Greater New Salem, Missionary Baptist Church (GNS) is more than just a place of worship, it is a family. We teach the uncompromising Word of God, and we worship, pray and play together. Our weekly services include Sunday worship service, Sunday school, Bible study and prayer meetings, and various ministries for men, women, children and young adults.
GNS is now under the leadership of Senior Pastor Elect, Cedric J. Nelms. Rev. Charles Turner, Jr. is serving as Assistant Pastor to Pastor Nelms. Pastor Nelms is a native of Los Angeles, CA. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, holds a MA in Justice and Advocacy from Fuller Theological Seminary and is a graduate of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Development Institute. Pastor Nelms has been in the ministry for 20+ years. He has extensive knowledge working in community development, leadership principles, social justice, advocacy, and civic engagement.
Married for 25+ years to Lady Karen Nelms, who is also a Los Angeles native; the two have five beautiful children. Lady Karen has a heart for worship and over 10+ years of experience in the area of mental health services, with knowledge in the area of intellectual and developmental disabilities. She has a heart for youth and young adults, especially young women.
